Woman issues warning to people with Tangle Teezers after grim discovery

A woman has issued a “public service announcement” to anyone who uses a Tangle Teezer hairbrush after she made a disgusting discovery.

Cleaning fanatic Chloe revealed what’s really lurking inside the hairbrush designed to remove knots with ease on TikTok where she’s known as @cleanitwithchlo.

In a clip that has been viewed more than 511,000 times, Chloe admitted that her friend had never washed the inside of the brush, despite using it in the shower religiously, so she was eager to see what was lurking inside.

And what she found was horrifying – the inside was completely coated in black mould.

“This is a public service announcement to anyone that owns a Tangle Teezer hairbrush,” she said.

“So guys, I don’t know if you know but you can actually open these up and clean inside them – I would really recommend doing it.

“Today, this was my friend’s Tangle Teezer. She’s been using it in the shower for three years and has never cleaned inside it.

“So as you can see it was absolutely full of black mould so I’ve used some mould remover spray and a little brush just to remove it all.”

But the dirt was pretty easy to get rid of as Chloe sprayed the entire brush with Astonish Mould Remover Spray and cleaned it with a Sonic Scrubber before running the brush under the hot tap.

She continued to repeat this cycle until the brush was completely clean.

Since being posted, the video has received more than 71,000 likes and 2,300 comments from viewers who were grossed out by the results.

One said: “At this point, it would go in the trash and get a new one.”

Another wrote: “I’m terrified.”

While a third asked: “How do you open them? I legit never can,” to which Chloe explained that she used a bobby pin to get in-between.

“How do people not know they open?! I’ve had mine so long it opens itself when I’m using it!” added a fourth.

And another disgusted viewer commented: “When I tell you my jaw fell off.”

But a few people revealed that they use theirs to store their hairbands so they never lose them, which is genius.
